The Lover’s Book Tag

I was tagged by 5171 Miles Book Blog to participate in the Library Lover’s Book Tag! I’m so excited! This is actually my first book tag so I’m geeking out a little bit. Thank you! I was just looking at my library car the other day, thinking about when I’d visit.

And then sinks in the shame. I haven’t been visiting my library lately, though if their book sale last year counts, then I have! I LOVE the library. It’s a place that can really bring the community together and is a magical place. I actually worked in my college library for the entire four years of my school, and I loved every second.

How often do you visit your local library?

I’ve expressed my great shame. It has been a few years. I’m not proud of this. However, with two jobs and constant work on my writing, I barely have time to sleep. I am very lucky that one of my jobs is in a bookstore and that I have a chance to read there. Plus…if I love a book, i usually don’t want to give it back. I want it to go on my shelf to I can pluck it and reread it again.

Are you the type of person who checks out more books than you can read or are you someone who checks out the exact amount of books you intend to read before they are due?

My mom says I’m a speedy reader, guess that’s where I got the Scarlet Reader, but honestly I just love getting sucked into different worlds. I tend to check out books right up to the limit I’m allowed. Here, back in this hometown in Pennsylvania, it’s three. Back in my college hometown in West Virginia, it was pretty close to twenty or so. With some studies requiring LOTS of material, the limit was pretty high, but sadly that’s most of what I would check out. Study material. There was the occasional escape though. It’s how I happened across Christopher Moore. Awesome and totally funny guy.

How old were you when you got your first library card?

giphy (6)

How old…hmmm well, I think I was around ten? Maybe? My cursive on it is pretty horrendous. Though it hasn’t gotten much better since then. I remember my mom being there with me. I was so excited!! I still have the car with the library building on it tucked in my wallet.

Do you go to your library for a particular book or do you check out anything that piques your interest?

giphy (4)

I love to scour so I’ll go shelf by shelf. You never know what might strike your fancy and I like to be open to new things. Well, except mysteries. I’ve tried with them and they make me super sleepy for some reason. More often then not though, I’m drawn to the Young Adult section. That’s where my fancy flows as well as my writing. There is the occasional fiction and romance, too. Guilty pleasures and all.

Do you only check out books or do you also get DVDs, audiobooks, etc.?

giphy (5)

My mom is the audiobook junky. Together, we’d get a stack of movies, even when they did VHS, and make a weekend out of it. From Disney to Hitchcock to gushy romances. It was always a good time.

From what section of the library do you check out most of your books?

giphy (3)

Young Adult hands down. That’s my jam. That and paranormal/ supernatural.

What is your favorite part of using your local library?

giphy (1)

Hmmm…I always liked using the catalog and the databases. I got to get my techy-ness on as well as feel more knowledgable about what I’m looking for. Also, i like to look the old fashioned way, too, by just walking around. It’s how I could find new things in the nooks and crannies.
