Midnight Tease - Giphy

Hello bookworms!

It’s the midnight hour! That means it’s time for the Midnight Tease! Find out here what I’ll be reading this month as well as what I’ll be reviewing!

I hope you are doing well. It’s the beginning of march which means the snow shall be melting soon enough and the sun will be out longer.

Spring is nearly here! Who else is excited!?

spring

I’ve been going through a lot of changes in the last month, so I do want to apologize again. You’re all fantastic. Things have just been ridiculously up and down and up and down. I should be getting back some regularity now, though.

Before I go on a ramble, without further ado!! Books!

Midnight Tease - Giphy

My lovers and obssessers of books!

February is here. The month many people declare is the month for love. I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but I do celebrate that it’s the last full month of winter. For me it is anyway. The cold weather and snow gets its last bites in and spring starts to trickle in. I am really craving some warm weather and green leaves and the death of snow.

Scarlet Reader

The midnight hour is upon us and this is what I’ll be reading and reviewing this month. It’s my goal to get started on my New Year’s Eve Bookish Resolution as well as finally complete reading some series I’ve started over the last few years.

A long time ago, I read the first and second installments of The Vampire Diaries. Anybody who’s read the books knows that the TV show is nothing like them. They’re SO different, but I still enjoyed the drama of the books and can’t wait to get back at them.

Midnight Tease - Giphy

Hello book lovers!

Let’s get 2019 going shall we?

This year I want to go back a reread a few of my most favorite books. Some, I haven’t reviewed on here before, soo you’ll get to hear me geek out about them. Some, I have and maybe I’ll talk about them a little more. Some, I just I will not, and just bask in their glory.

I do have a New Year’s Resolution coming up, but still working on it. More news to come soon about it.

It is my goal to work harder at my dreams this year than I did last year. There are many things I want to accomplish, and I’m a big believer in not divulging until absolute certainty, so it’s all hush hush. For now.

One of my greatest wishes this year, as a book loving booknerd, is that we all read more. Enjoy words. Soak them in like ink to paper. I love reading and talking about what I’ve read. Being able to share that with you makes me giddily happy. I also hope for you that everything you work hard for, strive for, and long for, come to great success.

And finally, never give up and never stop believing. Maybe that sounds ridiculously cheesy. But, belief is harder than it sounds. No matter what you believe in, don’t give it up. It’s nearly impossible, if not totally, to get back once you’ve given it up. And believing in anything can be a feat in and of itself as well. In the difficulties and hardships that are working double-time to strangle our world, be strong, be brave, and (as Journey says) don’t stop believing.

Now…to make the awkward transition from intensity to the Midnight Tease where I tell you what I’m ready, will be reading, and will be reviewing. What are you doing up at this hour anyway? Just kidding. Us night owls, little fruit bats, and lightning bugs and crickets and other night life have got to stick together. Grab a snack, here’s what bookishness I’ve going on this month.

There you have it! Have an awesome January!

I know just in this last hour, I’ve finished A Series of Unfortunate events on Netflix. A phenomenal show that did wonders. I really do hope to see the next Lemony Snicket series done as well: Who Could That Be at This Hour? made into a series. There were a few hints toward it during ASOUE and I was having a ball, geeking out about it. The central theme came into play big time during this final season. Artistic, humorous, surprising, and brilliant. I may have been shaky about this series at first, some may even say wary and inclined to look away, but I’m glad I didn’t.

With the rambling of a sleep-lacking human out of the way, you have a fantastic new year, and a splendid January.

Midnight Tease

Midnight Tease - Giphy

Bookworms! My loves!

It is the midnight hour and if you’re awake like I am right not then you’re an insomniac. Just kidding! But, you do live the night owl life. Since you’re awake, this is what’s coming up this snowy month.

Mostly I’m just trying to keep it together. It’s getting busier by the day with Christmas coming up. People are getting crazier trying to accomplish their holiday lists. I don’t know about you guys, but I could live with only getting books for Christmas. Well, books and a new pair of earbuds since mine broke a week and half ago. I’m a woman that CAN’T live without music and so I’ve been in dreadful withdrawal without earbuds. Come on, Santa, send a pair my way. I’ve been a good girl this year…sort of.

Also, my brother who is in the Army just got home from his time overseas and he and his fam will be joining us for Christmas. I’m very excited. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen him. Thought it’ll be crowded, it’ll be a very happy Christmas.

Now for books! Here’s what I’ll be reading, what I am reading, and what’s up on the chopping block of reviews!!

I’m still counting them as read. Geeeeez, I can’t believe it’s nearly 2019. Anywho, I’ll have a brand-new book blog New Year’s Resolution coming and I’m quite excited!!

Bring on December!

Hello, book clan!

It is November!!

Wowzers. We’re beginning to approach the end of 2018. Crazy, eh? This month is filled with lots of little things. I’ll be going to see Bohemian Rhapsody and I’m beyond excited. Freddy Mercury, guys! QUEEN!! I feel like this biopic is going to be legendary. I love Queen’s music. It has made history with their music. We’re talking ‘Under Pressure’ (my favorite!), ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Another One Bites the Dust’, ‘Somebody to Love’, ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ (one of my big favorites), and of course, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Scarlet Reader - Queen

From there, I’m in a kind of hibernation mode. I’m not a lover of the cold and snow, which will be on its way soon enough. So I’ll be mostly inside unless I’m braving the roads for work LOL. This is also a GREAT time to get some reading in. Snuggle in with some hot cocoa and a great book.

Midnight Tease - Giphy

Happy Midnight Hour, my precious booknerds!

Shall I begin this post with the tradition song of Halloween???

Halloween

This is my month! So excited. I look forward to dressing up this Halloween.

Reading this month will be filled with all kinds of spookiness. From witchiness to facing up to a curse that makes your worst fears come true. I can’t wait! There’s something about things that go bump in the night. It’s my kind of normal. Bring on the scary books, scary movies, overdose of sugar, and pumpkins!

Mum and I have put up our Halloween tree. It’s creeping and crawling with spiders and pumpkins and skeletons.

Halloween tree - The Scarlet Reader

We’d gotten the idea last year and then got really lucky to find a black Christmas tree. And yes, that’s a witch hat on top.

Anyway, here’s what’s coming for October!

Midnight Tease

Midnight Tease - Giphy

Hello, bookworms!

It’s the midnight hour and this is the Midnight Tease. Yes, midnight, because who needs sleep. Sleep is for punks. And, yes, I’m a punk because I LOVE sleep. Anywho, this is where I tell you what’s going on and what’s coming up on my reading and reviewing list.

But first…

It’s September! Fall already! Holy cow! You know what that means? Halloween is on the way! Yes, I’m one of those nuts. I even put up a Halloween tree. This month I’m very excited to go see The Nun. It looks pretty damn scary and I love horror!

Nun

As for the daily, every day, kind of living, I wish it was more exciting. Doing double work duty at the bookstore and my other job and coming home to write is about the gist of it. However, I did have a few trips that came up in August. I visited my college Alma Mater to see some friends I haven’t seen in a couple years. It was so good to get away. I believe everybody needs a mini-vacation, especially if you’re feeling like you can’t fit one in or keep telling yourself eventually. Just do it because when you’re telling yourself those things then you definitely need one.

I also got to attend a concert this summer. 3 Door Down, and it was incredible. Great music. I even got to hear my favorite song by them. It really was a great time. Felt good to get out of the house.

I still have a few books from my summer list to get to and can’t wait. I also have a few from last month that I was hoping to catch up to.

Every once in a while, you need a good parody, and this one is about Twilight! Not going to lie, I’m excited. Twilight is good, but let’s have a laugh.

Double Eclipse

Double Eclipse - Goodreads

I’ve been waiting oh-so impatiently to get this sequel and *SQUEEEE* I have it! The Witches of East End was pretty good. It was different, too with how they descend from Norse mythology. I really enjoyed Triple Moon, which you can find the review-here.

Shooting Scars & Bold Tricks
Author: Karina Halle

The Artists Trilogy

This is another one for which are sequels I’ve been waiting on. The first book, Sins & Needles, which you can find the review-here, was intense, fast and unrelenting. With it’s share of smut and danger, there’s something so rough and raw about it.

The Hatchling
Author: Ezekiel Boone

The Hatching

So…spiders and me don’t get along. Nope! We have a never=ending war. But, since i have an affinity for creepy and scary things, this is perfect.

Ender's Game

This is a Sci-Fi that’s been on my radar for a loooong time. It’s been hailed with praise and wonder and I am so excited to have found a copy. This also allows me to broaden my horizons a bit. I love YA, but it’s good to branch out.

So, there’s an interesting slew coming this month. Classics, Sci-Fi, and sequels that I can finally get to-oh my!

I also want to take the time to say thank you for all of you that take an interest in The Scarlet Reader. I know I’m off the page and my geekery for books (among many things) is ridiculous, but I love being able to share my enjoyment of them with you. It’s truly a pleasure to share it in this way on a blog and with many others who also share this passion. I also love being able to garner folks’ interest into something new. So while spastic and sometimes a little crazy, I thank you.
