Speedy Quote Sunday

Hello, book clan!

There are always those quotes you catch from a book that strike you and stay with you. Here are a few of mine.

“Sometimes when something touches you, it’s hard to find the words. You can say things like ‘beautiful’, ‘fabulous’, ‘awesome’, but the words don’t really describe how you feel, especially if you were feeling all that, but the picture made you-made you hurt some, too.” (Kissed By an Angel, Elizabeth Chandler)

Ineffable. When you can’t find the words for how strongly you feel whether it’s overwhelming happiness or unbearable sadness. When even trying to have such feelings can be difficult because all you felt for so long was a hollowness from something being snatched away and you don’t know how to fill it or what to fill it with.

“Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears.” (Edgar Allan Poe)

Poe is such a major favorite of mine. Though quite morbid and fantastic with imagery and horror, I find his words filled with emotion that strikes the heart.

“It’s funny how humans can wrap their mind around things and fit them into their version of reality.” (Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief, Rick Riordan)

There are some things that we struggle to adapt to and some we just refuse to accept. I’ve been there a few times.

Bookworms!!

I am so sorry I’ve missed a Sunday. Life took a turn for the busy, but here’s a fresh Speedy Quote Sunday.

Some quotes stick to our lives, allowing our hearts to expand and make room for meaning and dreams. At least that’s how it is for me from time to time. Here are a few quotes for you.

“If you ask me if I’m okay again, I’m going to smack myself in the face just to punish you.” (Midnight Alley, Rachel Caine)

I’ve read the Morganville Vampires series so MANY TIMES that I’ve had to buy new copies. It filled with wit, sarcasm, and the occasional ‘oh shit, I’m going to die’. This line is one that always makes me burst out laughing because we all have that person that you know this would work on. This is a special kind of relationship.

“Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?” (The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien)

Such a logical question, especially if you’ve just woken up and haven’t had your coffee or breakfast yet, or your second breakfast. But then again, if you’re like me, you tend to skip a good part of the morning so that you don’t have to think about such a complex question.

“The right thing and the easy thing are never the same.” (Beautiful Creatures, Kami Garcia)

For the right thing is not always easy and the wrong this is not always difficult.

Hello, my bookish clan!

Sometimes there are book quotes that linger with you. You’ll look back on them as help bring clarity and meaning to your life. That or they just make you and laughter is the cure for sadness. Do it as often as possible.

“Anything whole can be broken. And anything broken can be put back together again. That is the meaning of Abracadabra. I create what I speak.” (The Rules of Magic, Alice Hoffman)

I love this because nothing is ever permanently broken. Some things take longer to heal than others. Nothing is invincible, especially the heart.

“Secrets have a way of twisting themselves around your heart like a python and choking the joy out of you.” (Willow, V. C. Andrews)

Secrets always feel like this. Ever notice that? No matter if their good or bad, you just want to let them out.

“Without hope, people become desperate to escape the pain. They seldom see the rhythms in their own lives, how dark phases come before new beginnings.” (Daughters of the Moon, Lynne Ewing)

There’s always those times that you become hopeless and wondering if things will ever get better, especially if it seems like they never will. Never stop having hope, that what this reminds me of.

Speedy Quote Sunday

Hello, loves!

Today is a special day for me. It’s the magical day in which I go from number 25 to 26. I’m excited to spend it with my mum. I hope you all are having a special day as well! If the 21st is your day of birth as well then happy birthday!

Now, for some beautiful quotes and deep, meaningful, totally humorous (because let’s be honest some of the best book quotes are so great you nearly pee yourself) book quotes!

There are special quotes, moments, feelings that stick with you after reading. They leave fingerprints in your mind for you to remember and carry with you.

“As soon as you admitted to loving someone, you suddenly had a lot to lose. You freely gave them a way to hurt you.” (A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares, Krystal Sutherland)

Falling in love is a scary idea. I am 26 years old and have yet to have a first love. I have no idea what it’s like, but I’ve seen it with other people and it is terrifying. That doesn’t mean I’ll push it away if it comes my way, but I am skittish. I’m careful. I don’t want to fuck it the fuck up. I’ve messed around, sure, but the love part is still out there and when it happens I am scared of being hurt. It’s something I’ll have no control over.

“I’d built a wall around myself the first day we’d met, but she used a sledgehammer to smash it down and made me care for her.” (Awake, Natasha Preston)

To manage a feat, it’s impeccable. This reached me because I have my own walls. I’m cautious and protective of myself. My wall is named Sarcasm. It’s a comfort zone and I think we all have walls and that they can be important to have if only to have them broken down.

“The dead are so close they can hear us.” (The Witching Hour, Anne Rice)

Since we are rearing up on Halloween, has anybody ever thought about this? Ever imagine, or just get that feeling with hair standing on end, that you’re not alone? I’m a believer in ghosties and other supernatural nifties. I’ve had my fair share experiences with ghosts, so I’m always curious to hear from other people about them.

Have a ghost story? Tell me about it!

There are always those quotes that stick with you.

“Real love is an investment of yourself. You drop every natural defense you possess and replace it too soon with trust and dependence. Love, or the feelings you will come to call love, can be very, very dangerous.” (The Mirror Sisters, V.C. Andrews)

Love is so complicated and simple at the same time. It takes control when we think we have control of it. Or so I’ve observed.

“Free yourself. Have the courage.” (Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future, A.S. King)

Powerful and relatable to many possibilities from politics to religion to yourself in only just five words. For me, stand up for what you believe in and feel free.

“The Latin Club is totally evil.” (The Poison Eaters-In Vodka Veritas, Holly Black)

If you’ve ever taken a Latin class you get it. LOL. Feels like you’re summoning the devil.

Everybody has those quotes from books that are memorable and leave prints on their lives. Here are a few of mine.

“Noble cuts like a blade to the heart.” (The Dark Calling, Kresley Cole)

Very true. Sometimes doing the right thing, knowing in your bones that it’s all good and should leave you feeling good about it, can leave you feeling broken and hurt because it breaks your heart. It is like a blade and that bitch really hurts. Unlike actually getting stabbed (which I don’t know how it feels) lasts a far shorter time than it does to get emotionally stabbed in the heart.

“Thinking of your parents being young is like is like thinking of Winnie-the-Pooh going to the bathroom: just fucking weird.” (Thanks for the Trouble, Tommy Wallach)

There are some things that are just hard to imagine. Winnie-the-Pooh going to the bathroom is one of them. The bear already lacks pants. Just…odd. Thinking about my mom being young? That is a trip to the past I’d love.

“It’s not the amount of time that makes something real. It’s what happens in that time.” (Freeks, Amanda Hocking)

This really puts time into a unique perspective. That you shouldn’t race against it, but value it along with everything inside of that time. It’s not limitless and you don’t know when time will just stop.

Speedy Quote Sunday

Hello, book clan!

Hope you’re all having Sunday. This is Speedy Quote Sunday. Here are a few quotes from book that have really stuck with me.

“The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It’s the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared.” (The Giver, Lois Lowry)

My heartstrings yanked at this one. Some of my best memories are with those I love dearly like my mom and my best friend. Without them, it’s just me, alone. Sharing those memories keeps me connected to them as well as the world. Like I’ve left a fingerprint in important places: other people’s lives.

“A life without love is like a year without summer.” (Love & Gelato, Jenna Evans Walsh)

Summer is my favorite season with autumn right behind it. I live for hot weather and don’t care if I break a sweat. So to live without summer? I could never. But, in comparison to love? At almost 26, I have yet to fall in love. It’s a scary idea honestly. I don’t reject the idea, but it’s just not happened. Not yet. If the way I live now is like not having summer then I look forward to having my summer one day. Whenever it comes.

“Fuckstockings, truth is a surly shrew sometimes!” (Fool, Christopher Moore)

Sometimes, this is just how it feels. You try not to feel this way, but you just can’t help it. It just comes out and then suddenly you feel better. It’s okay to laugh afterward. Laughter helps the heart.
