Midnight Tease

Midnight Tease - Giphy

Hello hello, bookworms!!

It’s May, Justin Timberlake’s favorite month of the year, though I saw this and couldn’t stop laughing.

May

Also, I went and saw The Avengers: Infinity War. Don’t worry, you’ll get no spoilers from me. That’d be incredibly rude of me. The movie was EPIC and PHENOMENAL. Totally riveting from start to finish. My heart hasn’t beat that hard during a movie in a while. I think since Deepwater Horizon, which is also a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Now, I’m a DC Comics girl through and through (don’t you judge me), but I love Guardians of the Galaxy, so I went to see it. Worth watching. There’s a reason it made hundreds of millions on opening night. My emotions still feel like they got trampled beyond recognition.

Rocket

Now, it’s the midnight hour, which means this is the Midnight Tease, and we all know that I don’t know what sleep is. If you’re up this late then you need to go to bed. Nah, just kidding, but do check out this list because it’s a good bit of what I’m going to be reading and reviewing this month. See, May is warm and sunny and so I like to get started on my summer reads.

I know what you’re thinking. What the heck is with a summer reads list? Or just summer read books? Books are freaking books. It doesn’t matter when you read them. Not for me my lovelies. I find certain books more fulfilling and sweet and just better in the summer. So I’ll be getting some of that started.

Also, Rick Riordan’s Apollo Trials: The Burning Maze just came out. I’ll be getting to that probably next month and I can’t wait! I really enjoyed the first two. They’re fun and wild and hilarious. Who knew Apollo would make such a terrible human.

The Great Library

I’m super excited about this series, been dying to get it since the first one came out. I’m a major fan of Rachel Caine’s work. While I’ve only read Morganville Vampires so far, she’s superb and totally original. I do want to try the Weather Warden series sometime–I have an infatuation with weather and natural disasters. Anyway, I’m just ecstatic that I finally got the books, which brings me to my little story about them. Back in December, on the 21st, I received a package. I wasn’t expecting anything and it wasn’t a present my mum had ordered. I even asked around online to my friends and sent out Snaps. I was so confused. Then, opening it, I majorly squeed, and loudly. I’d received the first three books of this series. To this day, I still have no idea who sent them to me. Nobody fessed up at all and I imagine they would have. I am unbelievably grateful for the wonderful gift. Books hold a special place in my heart. Almost a higher place than boys LOL. And what’s so cool about this series is how books really have some power behind them. I can’t wait to review them. And again, THANK YOU to whoever it was that sent me this series. I’m still in awe of it. It’s certainly one of the nicest things to happen to me.

I love being able to talk your ears off about books and my pointless life. I appreciate each and every one of you and am grateful when you visit.

If there’s one thing I can shared during this tease it’s that I’m okay with dog-earring a book. I know! I’m a monster! But here’s the catch. If and when I dog-ear, I don’t fold the whole page. That kind of thing is monstrous. I do

I do have an ARC review coming up this month as well and I look forward to sharing that with you all. Have a happy May!

And while I’m not a mum, I want to say,

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL OF THE LOVELY, INSPIRING, CARING, AND WONDERFUL MOTHERS!!!!Mother's day

Midnight Tease - Giphy

My bookclan! Good to see you! I mean good to…no, not that either. It’s great of you to visit. I love it when you visit. That’s better.

It’s midnight and this is the Midnight Tease because I never sleep. Just kidding. I sleep….sort of.

I hope the holiday was good and the spring rains are upon you. It’s April!!!! That means flowers and birds and crazy squirrels dive-bombing the ground. (Is that only me who ever sees that?)

Squirrel

Currently, Star Wars: Empire Strikes back is on TV and I’m chowing down on a Nerd Rope. Why not. Jules Verne is waiting on me so at some point I need to get on with that adventure. I’m in a volcano at the moment and traveling to the center of the earth.

I have a lot of reading coming up, some reviews too. Here, I have the list of what is going on this month so that you know what’s coming up and who knows, you may pick up one of these too, or you might’ve already read them.

Also, to keep up with my New Year’s resolution, I’ve got 6 out of 25 authors I’ve read from so far. Many more to go.

So with that said I have a question. Would you guys be interested in a book tag? It would be short, monthly book tags.

As you know, I leave a song at the end of every book review because as much of a bookaholic as I am, I’m also a music junkie. Love listening to tunes. One of the best daydream inducers. Where I’m going with this is, I would put up a self-made book tag based on a certain song. The tag would be three or four books worth. What do you think? I would love feedback. That’s what’s going to encourage or put this idea to rest. I’d love to spruce up this blog with a little extra.

If you’ve kept up with me then you might’ve read my reviews on The Mirror Sisters trilogy. If not then here they are:

The Mirror Sisters

Broken Glass

Shattered Memories

The Mirror Sisters comes from Andrews notes not the woman herself. I’ve been told and told and TOLD to read from the master herself and I’m finally getting to. Took me a little bit to get the whole set but get ready. Andrews is storming the blog. I’m very excited which then makes me a wee bit nervous because I don’t want this to suck. I really don’t I’ve heard how twisted this series gets and I saw the Lifetime movies. (And yes, I’m a sucker for them. They were pretty good in my opinion…for Lifetime anyway.) So I’m a bundle of different jittery emotions. And over books!

So there we go! Lots happening.

I just want to take a moment and say thank you to all of you fantastic book nerds and others! I’ve reached 100 followers and I know, that doesn’t seem like a lot, but it means quite a bit to me. I enjoy sharing what I read. I started this blog because I enjoy that. Well, that and because I think my mom was getting tired of me geeking out at her, and I was wondering why I wasn’t doing this sooner. So, thank you. I do my best to make this enjoyable and fun and something that gets people interested in all kinds of books.

I know I do older books along with newer releases. I’m always up for reading all kinds of books and want you to be as well. Though, I’m not going to lie, I LOVE Young Adult. Mysteries and Thrillers make me sleepy. Classics take me a lot longer to read. ARCs are always exciting because it’s like getting Christmas presents. But all books are worth a shot.

All in all, what I’m saying is, I love you book nerds. Keep on page turning. And find me here whenever you’re looking for an adventure. I may be able to spitfire a book or two.

Midnight Tease - Giphy

Heya, book clan!

It’s midnight hour! Only crazy people are still awake in the world right now, which means you’re crazy. Just kidding…or am I? Lately, I’ve been up until nearly 4am. A Redbull a night keeps the boogieman away.

But not really haha. Just been getting a lot of writing done and getting reacquainted with my TV shows since the Olympics are officially over and hopefully so is winter. It’s been a few weeks since it’s snowed so I’m hoping the rain that’s been coming down means that Spring is upon us!

spring

There’s a few books I’m really looking forward and a few I’m looking forward to being done. LOL. There are just some books that are much longer than you anticipated.

Anywho, since you’re awake, here’s what is coming up this month:

More vampires! Instead of drama though, there’s spunk, fun and badassery. Sometimes I need that.

The Raven

A taste of Goth and horror. I can’t wait to reread some of these, like The Raven and Tell-Tale Heart. The Poe-man is one of my FAVORITE writers. There’s this fog of darkness that he brings out that stuns you and drags you in. Very chilling stuff.

Midnight Tease - Giphy

Hello, starshines!

If you’re up this late then, like me, you’re getting your twinkle on in some way. Whether it’s dancing around the kitchen to ‘September’ by Earth, Wind & Fire (guilty) or maybe finishing that book you started just three hours ago, you’re awake. Come on, we all get a little insomnia. Plus, some of the best movies are on at midnight. I know just the other night, I was finishing up my laundry and Friday Night Lights was on. My heart ached at seeing Lee Thompson Young (The Famous Jett Jackson, Smallville, Rizzoli & Isles). I miss him.

Who is happy that January is over!? It can’t be just me it. The month was dreadfully long. And where I am, it was ridiculously cold. I am ready for spring. I’m even more ready for summer. Two months down, one and a half to go. There were a few exciting things that was happened this month for me. I got some free books: Star Wars. I even got a new calendar that will help me brush up on my epic origami skills! They actually suck but I did make an awesome tee-pee:

Origami

I also went to see Mazerunner: The Death Cure. For anyone who knows me, knows the primary reason is because of this human,

Mazerunner

I’m not going to give anything away. It was a great film. A lot of action and there were a few surprises at some parts. I did the awkward grimace and laugh at those heart-wrenching moments because I’m inhuman and suck at emotions. I really did have a blast and ODed on popcorn. No complaints. I’ve actually considered going to see it again. We’ll see.

Moving on to the important stuff! BOOKS! So I have some book on my queue for this month. I’m currently waiting on a pre-order that I’m beyond ecstatic for.

During this midnight hour, I’m going let you know what’s coming up, what I’m currently flipping through and what is up on the chopping block for review.

So, without further ado!

Hello, bookworm clan!

I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve. Me, I worked and then partied on my couch—got to be cozy and watch the Breaking Bad marathon. I’ve never seen the show before now, but I’m kind of enjoying it. I think Jesse is my favorite. He’s quite the wildcard. Walt kind of scares me. It’s the serious mustache I believe. LOL.

BB

It’s the midnight hour and if you’re up right now then you’re like me, a night owl…vampire…werewolf…pick your weirdness. Me? I like puppies. Also, it’s nearly 0 degrees Fahrenheit outside (-17 celsius), so that body heat and fur would be really nice and warm. Baaack on subject. Midnight. Right. Midnight means it’s teaser time! Below is what’s on the menu this month. Some of you already know about a couple of these books. There has been a little rearranging however.

Now that December is over, I can get back on track! The holiday season can be quite hectic, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Here’s what’s coming your way from my bookshelf!

Dead of Winter-Day Zero

I’m VERY excited to continue this series. This series has really gotten  my blood sizzling with excitement and intrigue. But that may be because my love life is a little lacking and I wish, just a little, that it were exciting like this-heart pounding and yearning. *shrug* I love the constant action and emotion coaster this series puts me through. I really enjoy the nonstop twists that Kresley is giving me here, too. I’m hoping (fingers crossed) she keeps it up.

Also, while I’m only just starting the third book of this series, the fifth book, The Dark Calling, will be coming out on February 13th, 2018.

Dark Calling

I’m very interest in this one because of how it approaches a child dealing and questioning the parts of life that we all question-death. It’s almost fearless, difficult, and hard to put into words and I’m pretty sure I’ll cry during this book. We’ll see.

Hello my loves! My amazing bookworms!

I hope everybody had a great Halloween. It is the best time of year. Even better than, dare I say it, Christmas. I KNOW!! You disagree probably, but I’m a Halloween baby. You keep your Christmas. I’ll dance around to the theme from Halloween. I know this year I dressed up as Void Stiles from Teen Wolf. It was a lot of fun. My boss at work was very worried and kept asking why I was angry though. I just smiled.

Anyway! It’s that time. The midnight hour has struck and I have the Midnight Tease, because who needs sleep? Not me! Actually, I probably do need sleep, but I love you and so I’ve brought this monthly update to you.

For those of you who have just recently joined me here, on The Scarlet Reader, this is the time when I show you what I’m reading, what I’ll soon be reading and what’s up for review this month. I love to keep everyone updated with what is on my current queue (which is on the back of my couch).
